Atoms
Atoms are what make up everything. They are made up of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Discovered in 1911, neutrons have no charge. Protons have a positive charge and electrons carry a negative charge. Protons and neutrons joined together form the nucleus, the center of the atom. The electrons circle the nucleus. Quarks, particles inside the neutron and proton, were discovered in 1986. There are three quarks inside each neutron and proton. The three quarks are held together by particles called gluons. Atoms are very fascinating. There is more to discover about them than we can imagine.  | |
